Incremental games, also called idle or clicker games, are games where the player uses simple actions and patience in order to gain currency. This currency is then used to obtain items or incite events that increase the rate of which the player gains this currency. One of the most popular known is Cookie Clicker. A genre that exploits the stubbornness and impatient nature of the player, it can and is almost designed to be a frustrating experience. The beginning phase, which may last anywhere from minutes to days, can be the most rigorous with waiting and utilizing smart investment strategies being the main points for maximal currency production. However, it does not have to be that way. There are clicker games whom exploit the exact opposite feelings of exhilaration and production when they feed the player "high points" and play with the rates to be more kind or generous than usual.
