The-story-is-complex-in-beautifully-nonsensical-ways

Dynamic_interactions_with_the_environment_and_player_avatar. is a…

When a player’s avatar is altered by the environment in any way shape or form and the effects exist until specifically acted upon by me, the player, this only creates immersion and a more real experience. I find it realistic when my avatar reacts to the passage of time, like aging. Another examples are clothes on my avatar undergo wear and tear over time. This invokes a sensation of permanence and ownership of the actions and consequences in my play experience. For Example:

In Metal Gear 5, whenever Snake got hit by the bullet, he got blood on his armor which would stay there, until he takes bath. Moreover, if he doesn’t take any bath for a long time his uniform will start looking dirtier followed by the flies buzzing on the top of his head implying poor hygiene, leading to the change of behavior of NPCs for the Snake. Similarly, in Witcher 3, if Geralt won’t go to the barber shop and don’t take bath for long, he starts smelling, also his beard and hairs started getting longer and messy. I have even noticed the NPC named Yennefer saying to my avatar Gerald that I like your new hairstyle and beard when they meet after a long time in the king’s court. Second instance is Geralt getting dressed by royal chamberlain to prepare him before addressing the king. Chamberlain shows disgust if Geralt didn’t take care of his hygiene. Witcher3 also make the player choose the proper outfit for the proper occasion.
