Many games give player the option of fast travel after they discover a new place in that big game world which is a good design because some players loose interest as they have to go round the wide game world on foot or on a horse or a vehicle. Thus fast travel helps players a lot.

There have been some examples of rpgs which did not have fast travel and had massive worlds which teach us how important a fast travel system is. I m not saying it should be the only way to travel. I just want to put it out there that fast travel helps some players who have been on that way many times.

1.Elder Scrolls Online[]

While one could choose to travel between cities on horseback, all cities had fast travel options available to players who might not want to enjoy the view while riding between cities.

4. Super Mario Bros[]

Mario

The idea of fast travel dates back to the classic Super Mario Bros. The game has a warp pipe which acts as an important mode for transportation. Although they do not have a physical connection for the outlet, it allows the traveler to be transported to a different location. While some pipes allows Mario to cross great distance(including level jumps), others does nothing.

5. Grand Theft Auto V[]

The way GTA V uses fast travel is very unique as the player must call a Taxi to pick them up and drive them across the world. The fast travel is very helpful in GTA V as the world is so huge it can take forever to travel across.
