When designing a game, it’s important to take into consideration the art style. This is often overlooked by game designers and needs to change. The art style is more than just making the game look pretty. It’s about immersing the player and not only that, a good game uses the art style to inform gameplay.
Example: Fez[]
In the game Fez, the player can change their perspective by
rotating a cube and by doing so they see a new path to follow. In the one perspective, they were not able to move forward but by changing their view, literally, they find that they can go in that direction. It’s much like the art style cubism.
Grand Theft Bicycle
Grand Theft Bicycle or GTB is an example of a mod that was made with the intention of creating a Dada art piece. It was modded off of Grand Theft Auto. All the A.I.s were replaced with politicians waging war against each other. The player could ride a bike in the real world that controlled the virtual bike in GTA world. The modder has stated that their intent was to provoke and confuse people, like Dadaism.
