Good Snack[]

There are many games that alert the player when they have achieved progress in the game. Some games will force the player to stop playing and react to their accomplishments. This disruption the flow of game play and can become incredibly irritating after a while. Other games find a way around this problem by alerting the player but allowing the player to view their accomplishments when they are ready.

Guild Wars 2[]

Guild Wars 2 has a way of alerting the player of accomplishments (Levels, Achievements, Items gained) but it contains that progress in the bottom right hand of the screen until the player is ready to look at it. This allows the player to continue their flow of game play but still know that their are rewards awaiting them when they are ready.

Skyrim Leveling Screen

While battling in skyrim a character frequently levels up, the game notifies the player of their accomplishment allowing them to enter the leveling screen at their leisure whether it be in the midst of combat to restore their health or after the fray is over, so that their focus never has to be broken.

Fallout 4

Maxresdefault-3

Fallout 4, another Bethesda Studio game, does well in notifying the player without interrupting the flow of the game. With level upgrades available or if a settlement is under attack it appears as a small box on the side of the screen allowing the player to be aware of new events but continue until a point where they can give it attention.
