Removing objects outside viewing distance - Removes immersion if seen[]

One of the ways of optimizing a games performance is to remove objects outside the players view or by removing all objects outside a certain distance. The game runs better because of fewer elements to calculate and it usually doesn't matter for the player since it is outside the view.

But sometimes this does not work correctly or the developers' assumptions of the player's perception of this is not right. If a person has been working on a game for a long time, it is easy to forget about these disappearing objects and just think of it as a part of the game. And if these are in the game after release and the player notices it, it can remove the immersion.

Bottom line, when playing the game developed think how the player will perceive disappearing objects.

Examples[]

ArcaniA

ArcaniA's problem is in disappearing leaves on trees. Common problems with viewing distance is often not knowing if the player is looking at an object or assuming that it is too far away. Leaves in this game disappear when they get too close to the camera. It is especially noticeable because it is the only object that does this. The trunk of the tree is still there.
