For third-person shooter games, it is important to have clear and broad point of view at all times in order to maximize user experience. Sometimes the view is greatly limited when shooting or aiming down sight, because a big portion of the screen is taken by the character. Shoulder swap is brilliant solution to this problem. It adds more agility to the game and it certainly adds more strategies for those who want to challenge higher difficulties.

Examples[]

Uncharted 2[]

Shoulder swap has been in the Uncharted series since the first Uncharted game, but it became most handy in Uncharted 2. For those players who want to beat the highest difficulty without too much trouble, lots of times they could just hide the character behind cover, and use shoulder swap to get into a position where they can see the enemy but the enemies can't see the players.

Infamous[]

Combat in Infamous is very fast paced and often chaotic. Sometimes enemies can fill the entire screen around you

and turning Cole’s whole body to find them on either side just isn’t fast enough or effective. Because of this the ability to swap shoulders while aiming and learning to integrate it into one’s play style is invaluable.
